Tagged is an innovative app designed to improve road trips by merging trip planning, bill splitting, live location tracking, and music sharing into one seamless experience. It offers a fun, interactive way to stay connected with friends and family on the road. Picture Zoom’s connectivity but made for travel—join trips, invite friends, and even discover pitstops along the way. This unique concept, inspired by personal road trip adventures, makes every journey more enjoyable and organized.

Challenges

The app, fundamentally a location-sharing tool, had similarities with established services like Google Maps, Waze, and Roadtrippers. To set it apart, the challenge was to create a dashboard that was both simple and modern, offering a seamless user experience. The goal was to design an interface as intuitive as joining a call on Zoom or Google Meet. This required careful UI/UX planning, incorporating user feedback from interviews to refine and adapt the design. Given users’ familiarity with Google Maps and similar apps, the aim was to innovate while adhering to core UX principles, ensuring a swift and efficient navigation experience.

What I accomplished

The app successfully meets its intended goals, standing out from current market offerings by providing extensive control features that enhance the travel experience. This achievement is a result of thorough user interviews, polls, and personas, which guided the design process. While the app excels in typography and usability, supported by a fun and engaging UI kit, there is still room for improvement in the color scheme. A competitive analysis was instrumental in identifying the app’s MVP features, which serve as key selling points.

In conclusion

The journey was a challenging roller coaster, but the end result was worth it. By focusing on users and applying key UX principles, the app’s experience was enhanced. Simplicity and clarity were prioritized to minimize frustration and encourage continued use, ensuring users stayed engaged and satisfied.
