During my time at Red River Polytech, I took on a project that involved either redesigning an existing website or creating one from scratch. Having previously worked on various redesigns, I decided to take a different challenge and design a website for Vivian, also known as Divine. Divine, a super talented rapper in the hip-hop scene from India and gained significant recognition following the release of the film *Gully Boy*, which was inspired by his life and journey. This project aimed to capture his unique essence and elevate his online presence in a way that resonated with his career.
Challenges
One of the most exciting aspects of this project was starting from scratch. Divine had no existing website, so I had the opportunity to craft an entirely new brand identity and online presence from the ground up. My goal was to create a site that not only showcased his music but also integrated his merch shop and tour details seamlessly.
I dive deep into the world of artist and musician websites, exploring various design systems and components to ensure a dynamic and engaging user experience. From developing a comprehensive design system to selecting the perfect photography, copywriting style, and iconography, every element had to align with the artist’s vision. I had the all freedom but “with great freedom comes great responsibility”.
What I accomplished
The project proved to be a fascinating journey, inspired by a deep admiration for the artist. Through extensive research into his life and rise from humble beginnings, the design was influenced by his underground music style. Countless hours of exploring design inspirations and related artist websites ultimately led to a design that captures the essence of his unique rap style and musical journey.
In conclusion
Creating design libraries, interactive elements, and components for the website was an engaging and rewarding process. Consistency in style and adherence to design principles are crucial, as they reflect the artist’s aura and music. With millions of fans eagerly exploring Divine’s online presence, it’s essential for the design to resonate and captivate.
