Project Type - App & Product Design
Role - Product Designer
Tools - Figma, Adobe Photoshop
Duration - 3 Weeks

Domestika is the fastest-growing creative community where top experts share their knowledge and skills through professionally produced online courses. Redesigning this major platform allowed me to learn and think on a broader scale, focusing on recurring issues that hinder user experience. This project challenged me to find innovative solutions and enhance the overall usability of the product.

Challenges

Domestika, a prominent platform for selling and streaming creative courses, excels in offering content across various mediums, including web, tablet, and phone applications. However, the platform has some notable areas for improvement. The app and website lack key elements that reflect Domestika’s identity, making navigation and progress tracking cumbersome for users. Additionally, there are issues with the video player, and the platform does not support offline downloading, limiting users’ ability to access content without an internet connection.

What I accomplished

I was particularly focused on enhancing the app’s identity and user experience on tablets and mobile phones. My key areas of improvement include:

  • Identifying and Enhancing Missing Elements: Analyze the reasons behind the exclusion of certain elements and work on incorporating them to make the app more approachable and playful.

  • Opportunities for Improvement: Uncover opportunities to make the app both interesting and simple. This includes improving the video player design to address technical aspects such as fixing video playback speed.

  • Enhanced Controls and Offline Functionality: Introduce additional controls, particularly offline download options, and progress tracking. Create separate sections for each unit and practice tasks assigned by instructors to improve organization and user experience.

In conclusion

Users are always at the center of our design process, prioritizing their needs and experiences. Simplicity and ease of use are key to success, reducing confusion and frustration by ensuring users never have to guess
